We are Different. We are the Same.

As I travel the skies of Africa this night
I wonder
Is the moon the same over this place
where the people are different?

We are different, we are the same.

The moon receives light
And reflects it over all of us the same
In our different places.

We are different, we are the same.

I look up and call out in wonder and praise.
Oh God. We are different, we are the same.

I look up and call out in wonder and praise.
Oh God. We are different, we are the same.

What a joy to facilitate a Spiritual Formation residency for a group of ministers from three different countries. The theme of the week could easily be “Be still and know that I am God.” Ps 46:10 We practiced solitude with the intent of being in the presence of the Divine in the beauty of creation. We are different people from different contexts and cultures, but all the same in our passion for authentic transformation through healthy rhythms of solitude, sabbath, retreat and rest. More posts to come on this topic.

The Maasai church in Kenya is growing! We loved doing VBS with the children and encouraging the leaders with our love and silliness. God is at work in the world in many places among all peoples. The second half of Psalm 46:10 is “I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth!” May it be so.
